The regulated water utility serves about 310 households on seven separate water systems in Fremont County. The purpose of the workshop is to allow customers to hear a presentation from the commission staff on the company's application. Customers wil then be able to ask questions of commission staff. Island Park Water fied the application for the increase on March 26. With the filing, the commission's staff of engineers, auditors and attorneys begins an investigation that can take up to six months before a decision is made. In addition to workshops, there wil also be a comment period during which customers can submit wrtten comments and there may also be public hearngs. Dates for those events wil be anounced later. Island Park contends that an increase is necessary to meet increase operating expenses, including the higher cost of electrcity, lab fees for testing water, labor and materials for repairs and maintenance to the pumps and water lines. Rates have not been. adjusted since the company's last rate case in 1992. The workshop is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on June 10 at Ponds Lodge, 3570 N. Highway 20 in Island Park.
