We own two combined lots in Island park at 4031 Choctaw in the Shotgun subdivision that are
serviced by the Island Park Water Company. Because we have a water hydrant on both lots we
have to pay for water per hydrant for a total of $250.00 per year currently. Since we have
owned the property in Island Park aprox 5 years, it seems that most summers there are 3 or 4
weeks at least that there is a boil order in our subdivision due to contaminated water. We
have also had to contend with low water pressure a good deal of the time and sometimes no
water at all because of the well pump going out or over heating and not being able to get
ahold of anyone from Island Park Water to fix it. The proposed 224% increase is highly
excessi ve for the service we receive. Because of Island Park Water i s policy of charging per
hydrant, we would be paying $560.00 per year at the proposed rate increase. We pay aprox
$653.00 per year for water, sewer and garbage at our residence in Pocatello which we live at
year round. We spend maybe one full week in the summer and maybe two weekends a month in the
summer and maybe one weekend a month in the winter in Island Park. We can understand some
increase but not more than 50% and there needs to be better service.
