SUBJECT: IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF NORTHWEST
NATURAL WATER COMPANY, LLC TO ACQUIRE FALLS WATER
COMPANY; CASE NO. FLS-W-18-01
On February 21,2018, Northwest Natural Water Company applied to the Commission
requesting approval of their proposed acquisition of Falls Water Company. Northwest Natural
Water is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northwest Natural Gas Company, a publicly-traded gas
company located in Portland, Oregon. Falls Water is a privately held Idaho water company
serving approximately 5,500 customers near Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The Commission issued notice of the application and set an intervention deadline of
March 30,2018. No intervenors appeared. Staff has reviewed the Companies' application, and
information received through production requests. Staff now requests the following processing
schedule for the case.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff has concluded that processing this case by Modified Procedure is appropriate and
requests that the Commission order the same. Staff further recommends setting a comment
deadline of May 31,2018, and a reply deadline of June 7,2018. Additionally, Staff requests that
the Commission order a public workshop to be conducted by Staff on May 21,2018.
