While I understand the need for utility companies to increase rates from time to time~ I
would ask that the public utility commission deny the proposed increase in rates as submitted
by the Falls Water Company in case no. FLS-W-12-1. The re quest is the second rate
increase in barely two years. The requested rate increase is not justified based on their
financial analysis. Their desire to increase rates to satisfy unnecessary technological
improvements (which are being passed off as "water conservation") ~ unsupported long-term
debt ~ and a cost of capital of over 7% is not acceptable for a public utility. Falls Water
Company is already essentially breaking evening~ with a little cost savings initiative and
frugality in their office; they could be turning a respectable profit. I feel that this high
of a rate increase of over 26.52% PLUS an EXTREME reduction from a 12~ØØØ gallon limit to a
mere 5~ØØØ is unnecessary and excessive. Please deny the increase until Falls Water Company
can create a more acceptable increase and put in place better cost saving programs and
operational efficiencies in their company rather than passing these excess costs on to the
consumer.

I think that even the thought of increasing our water rate is absolutely ridiculous. We can
barley pay the newly increased rate we have been given this last year. My husband and I have
both been unemployed for almost 3 years~ we are full time students and are on a very limited
income. There are at least 3 houses on our street that have been abandoned or foreclosed on
due to this economy and you all keep wanting more money that we the people do not have. If we
lived in the numbered streets it would be a utility bill just one~ we could run the water all
day and night for one small flat fee ~ what gives?

I think that the proposed rate increase should not be allowed. I can i t believe that they
want to increase the rate by close to 25%! That is a ridiculous amount. I could see a 5-10%
increase~ but 25% should not be allowed.

Falls water is proposing a general rate increase anywhere from 24 to 28 percent depending on
service size!!! Are you kidding me!? I literally can barely pay my utili ties as is ~ my pay
isn't going up~ but you bet my fuel cost~ my electricity, my natural gas and my grocery costs
have and continue to increase. I haven' t seen a pay increase in 3 years... and guess what~ I
just got a 10~000 dollar a year decrease.
Falls Water claims its for increasing costs and infrastructure improvements, well thats too
bad~ you'll have to take care of it like any other company in the world~ use your profits and
budget the improvements. The engineering firm I belong to can't just start increasing costs
cuz we feel like remodeling our building or buying new computers~ we have to budget~
strategize and frugualy spend ~ it' s time our utilities companies practiced the same.
Any rate increase is just selfish and 24/28 percent is astronamical!!

26.8% RATE INCREASE~ WOW!!!!!!!
TIMES ARE TOUGH. MOST PEOPLE ARE BARELY MAKING ENDS MEET.
A 1% OR 2% INCREASE~ MAYBE.
26.8% SOUNDS EXTREMELY GREEDY.
I AM AGAINST ANY UTILITY INCREASES AT THIS TIME.
WHEN THE ECONOMY GETS BETTER~ WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO HANDLE A LARGER INCREASE.
