Falls Water Company, with 3,200 customers northeast of Idaho Falls, originally requested an average 46.2 percent increase. Commission staff, which operates separately from the commission, is recommending an average 24.7 percent increase. The three commissioners, who will hear testimony from the company’s customers Tuesday night, may adopt the company’s recommendation, commission staff’s recommendation or implement a rate of its own. The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in the Pocatello Room of the Shilo Inn at 780 Lindsay Blvd. in Idaho Falls. The company proposes increasing the monthly minimum charge for metered customers from $11.53 to $16.15 and the commodity charge for use beyond 12,000 gallons from 48 cents per 1,000 gallons to 72.7 cents. Commission staff is proposing an increase in the minimum monthly fee from $11.53 to $14 and an increase in the commodity charge from 48 cents per 1,000 gallons of use over 12,000 gallons to 62.6 cents. The company is seeking an annual revenue requirement of $1,009,179. Staff is proposing an annual revenue requirement of $893,127. The company also proposes increases in connection charges for a 1.5-inch meter from $825 to $930 and from $900 to $1,205 for a 2-inch meter. The commission staff supports the company’s proposed connection charges.
