What doesn t make sense is how high it is going to increase. The cost ofliving on average for the United States is 3% a year. It seems to us that if you are going to keep up with the times. The cost of services would also increase at the same rate. Weare asking that you send us a letter justifying the needs to raise our water costs as such a high percentage. We think that it is unreasonable to raise our rates so high over the course of one year when it should take more than 10 years for the cost ofliving to catch up to the outrageous proposed increase. I believe that the proposed increase is excessive. I understand the need to increase rates for inflation and maintenance. But the proposed increase would practically double my summer time waterbill. It is proposed that the 20,000 gallon minimum charge be dropped to 8,000 in thesummer and 15,000 in the winter. While at the same time they would increase the minimum charge from $11.50 to $12.75 in the summer and $15.50 in the winter. Making both changes at the same time is ridiculous. I would like to stop the rate increase and have a new proposal drawn up. If increases are necessary I am fine with it as long as they are somewhere between 5-15%, not 65%. My budget has already been strained due to high fuelcosts. I would hope that Falls Water is conscientious enough to not price gouge like the gas companies.
