Box 83720 Boise ID 83720-0074 Re:Rate Increase for Falls Water Company Dear Sir or Madam: We have been advised that Falls Water Company is seeking approval for a rate increase. It is our understanding that during the winter months their proposal would mean that we would receive 5 000 gallons of water less per month with an increase of $4.00 per month above what we are paying now. In the summer months, we would receive 12 000 gallons of water less per month with an increase of $1.25 per month above what we are paying now, but then each additional 000 gallons of water would cost us 85 cents, so the 20 000 gallons we previously received at a cost of$I1.50 per month would now cost $22.95. That is double the price. While we do agree that a rate increase is probably necessary, an increase of this size seems outrageous. Please do not approve the rate increase proposal as currently submitted by Falls Water Company. ~e L. B Dorraine C. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, THE LANDSCAPED AREA THAT WAS REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF AMMON WILL ALL DRY UP AND DIE BECAUSE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE WATER FOR IT. DROPPING THE MINIMUM GALLONS TO 8000 IN THE SUMMER MONTHS IS REDICULUSLY LOW. WE UNDERSTAND THAT RATES DO GO UP OVER TIME. THEY ARE PROPOSING A 76.1% INCREASE IN ONE YEAR. THAT IS UNBELIEVEABLE THAT IT WOULD EVEN BE CONSIDURED. Transaction 10: 11171445.Referred by: http: / /www. puc. state. id. us/ scripts/polyform. dll/ipucUser Address: 69.20.155. Having come from Reno Nv. where conservation, assigned watering days, and hours are enforced by law, we were surprised by the lack of any concern in this area to summer water usage. Middle of a hot day I saw houses watering lawns endlessly, farms irrigating by overhead methods andschools watering there fields. No thought of water lost to evaporation. And also not much dialect from the water company about conservation, even though this area has, to myunderstanding, been in a seven year drought. I think before Falls Water Company should be able to place such a restriction on use there should be a some effort to promoteconservation, and take into account lot size . Maybe starting with a 10-20% reduction under the previous years bill for each month. Set the individuals limit and give them a year to get accustomed to the changes. This would increase some funds in overage use, but not require those with half acre or acre lanscapes, or summer gardeners, or pools owners to pay a penalty for there use just because of the season. All months would be treated equally this way. Transaction 10: 11161521.Referred by: http: I Iwww. puc. state. id. us I scripts/polyform. dIll ipucUser Address: 67.129.138. User Hostname: 67.129.138.
