I believe the increase should not take place. We are under a surcharge now over 600 c.f.
The percentage is too high in addition to the current surcharge and the 7 years is
excessive. Are they asking for huge amounts of time and percentage, so that if it passes
with a lot less, Eagle Water Company will be happy and believe it is a victory and we
should be happy because the time and percentage were decreased? Or are they
upgrading so they can sell. We, who live in subdivisions, however modest, are required by the
home owners' association (oxymoron) to keep our lawns attractive. So even though we try to
curb usage as much as possible, you cannot keep a green lawn in high desert without giving it
lots of water about 8 months of the year. An individual uses 168 gallons a day just doing
ordinary things, drinking, washing etc. according to the New York Public Library Book of
Answers, 1990. I don't know how to convert that to cubic feet, but I know
you do. I hope EWC is unsuccessful in its' application. Thanks. o. McClure

I'm sure you know the the City of Eagle wanted to purchase the Eagle Water Co without
putting a vote to the residence of Eagle & they decided not to after a couple of town hall
meeting. Then shortly after they decided not to purchase we were told that United Water would
no longer be servicing our area & we had no choice they put us on Eagle Water. This past
weekend I read in the paper they are requesting a 48% rate increase and find this very hard
to swallow. This seams to me they are trying to go around the residence of Eagle again &
have them pay for their mistakes by a rate increase instead of being more deligent with what
they have. We were pleaed with United Water & did not request the change & nor has our
service improved from the switch, except our rates increasing to pay for their plunder. I
hope this increase is not approved & that our city leaders will some day learn that they are
not able to always think they can have a blank check & feel their residence have all the
money in the world & they can do as they please without the imput of the citizens of Eagle.
