We have recently fied an Application with the Idaho Public Utili~sl..sSI9~al~"-"l"t,
("Commission") for a temporary surcharge to cover expenses t~tlM! HåvelHMlèd¡lMl: wil
incur in the near future to address redundant fire-flow pressure standards imposed by the
Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.
These mandatory system improvements include:
./ 2 new wells (#7 & #8)
./ Improving pump capacity on Well #4
./ A temporary inter-tie with the City of Eagle's reservoir for emergency fireflow
redundancy
./ Installation of a pressure reducing / sustaining valve in the Floating Feather mainline
./ Modifications to Well #2 booster station
The Application seeks a surcharge of 48.075 percent per month on Eagle Water's rates for
water consumption in excess of the first 600 cubic feet. Even with this proposed temporary
surchargei Eagle Water's service rates would remain well below those of the City of Eagle
and United Water of Idaho.
Eagle Water customers with a three-quarter-inch service meter currently pay $7.84 a month
for the first 600 cubic feet of wateri plus .45 cents for every 100 cubic feet of water
consumed in excess of the initial 600 cubic feet. With the proposed Surchargei 700 cubic
feet of water consumption would cost Eagle Water customers $8.511 totaLl In contrasti City
of Eagle water customers with three-quarter-inch service meters currently pay $16.83 for
700 cubic feet of wateri and United Water customers with a similar size service meter pay
$16.57 in the winter months. United Water customers pay .30 cents more per 100 cubic
feet of water in the summer monthsi after the first 99.9 cubic feet consumed each month.
