RE: Request for rate raise
Sirs:
The curent base rate for the Brian Water Corp. is $12.50 for the first 4000 gallons per
month. I need to raise this to $18.00. Effective as soon as possible. The reason for the raise
is two-fold:
1. Nitrate levels have been edging up the last couple of years and have recently spiked
above the EPA's maximum contamination level (MCL) of 10 mg/L. The last four test results
were 11.0, 12.0, 10.7 & 10.9. Consequently, the DEQ is directing me to enact a longer range
solution to keep the levels below the MCL. A new deeper well seems to be the best option.
2. My last request for a rate raise was in 2007. It was determined then that my revenues
should be $14,277 per year and a raise was granted accordingly. Actual revenues since then have
been less. The primar reason for the shortfall is because of the cool, wet weather we have had
the last couple of years. A raise in the base rate would provide the revenues needed .. .rain or
shine.
The new rate would be more inJine with other. water systems.
