My husband and I would like to file a protest against the rate increase. In this extremely
uncertain economy it is outrageous to ask for a rate increase of such magnitude. The firm I
work for gave no raises last year and my husband was laid off in Dec of 2998 and never called
back to work. Although he has found other employment we are like everyone else concerned
about the future and what it holds. There is no certainty in this economy and the cost of
everything continues to increase. If Mr. Turnipseed waited 19 years to ask for an increase
that is unfortunately his poor planning and he should not be allowed to try and foist the
cost on all of us during such a deep recession. He like everyone else should have been
asking for a small increase (5% to 19%) every 2 to 3 years. Perhaps then his pump would not
have been failing several times a year. We understand that every business has rising costs
but this rate increase is unprecedented. We ask the commission to consider the tough times
we are all dealing with and keep the rate increase to a minimum of 19% to 15%. Thank you for
your time.
