Kootenai County water company seeks expansion to territory
A Kootenai County water company is seeking state approval to expand its service territory.
Bar Circle “S” Water Company, which serves about 156 households seven miles north of Coeur d’Alene, wants to add a proposed 237-acre subdivision and its potential 47 five-acre residential sites to its service territory.
The company claims the added territory, which is about 1,300 feet from the existing Bar Circle “S” territory, won’t adversely affect existing customers and won’t require construction of additional sources of water supply or reservoir facilities. A hydraulic modeling study performed by Toothman-Orton Engineering determined there is adequate capacity on the company’s existing system to serve the proposed subdivision.
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is taking customer comments on the application through Jan. 15. The commission intends to handle the case in a modified procedure that does not require a public hearing unless customer comments demonstrate a need for a public hearing.
