RE: Memorandum of Agreement Regarding the Abandonment of the Grangeville Line Between Spalding and Grangeville
Gentlemen:
The U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB) has sent the Public Utilities Commission a copy of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) regarding the abandoned Camas Prairie Railroad line running between Grangeville and Spalding. In the MOA the Railroad, the Nez Perce Tribe, the STB, and the State Historic Preservation Office have agreed on the procedures that will guide the “track salvage and stream restoration efforts as they have the potential to impact historical sites and structures.”
The STB is inviting interested persons and members of the public to file comments regarding the MOA. More specifically, the STB solicits comments “limited to historic preservation concerns” to be submitted to the STB no later than June 6, 2002. I have attached the transmittal letter and the MOA for your review and comment as necessary.
Sincerely,
Donald L. Howell, II
Deputy Attorney General
