Dear Commissioners Kjellander, Hansen, and Smith:Boise, Idaho
We are the youth leaders of ICAN, and we have come to ask you to approve the
petition for rule changes next week. Weare children of low-income families, and we
know first-hand what it is like to have the power disconnected when a bill isn t paid on
time. Weare asking you to do your best to make sure that that doesn t happen to
other low-income children this winter.
We want to thank you for not giving Idaho Power the full rate increase they asked for
and for the work you and your staff have done to make sure that A vista does not raise
the rates higher than they should. But the Idaho Power rate increase that did pass will
make it harder for families to pay the bills, and the stronger protections that ICAN has
suggested will be needed by a lot of families we know this winter.
Please approve these rule changes as quickly as possible, so that we and our families
can count on the protections the ~Ules !rOVi~,this winter.
Sincerely,
t~
