RE:VERIZON'S ADVICE NO. 03-07 PROVIDING DIRECTORY CONNECT
PLUS.
BACKGROUND
In response to the Commission s recent Order No. 29255 , Verizon filed Advice No. 03-
on June 6, 2003. In Order 29255, the Commission directed Verizon to reinstate Call Completion
service aka Directory Connect Request and to file conforming tariffpages no later than June 9
2003. Call Completion is a service that allows a customer who requests a telephone number from
V erizon' s Directory Services to be connected to the requested number automatically by pressing
1" on the telephone keypad.
In Order 29255 , the Commission observed that Verizon offered Call Completion in the
state of Washington for $0.75 per call completed in addition to the charge for Directory
Assistance. In fact, there is no additional charge for Verizon s Call Completion aka Directory
Connect Plus in Washington but the service is provided as part of the $0.95 Local Directory
Assistance Service charge. In other words, a customer using Directory Assistance would be able
to have the call placed automatically at no additional charge. In Advice No. 03-, Verizon has
proposed to offer these services the same way in Idaho at the same $0.95 rate. Verizon will retain
its two free call allowance for Directory Assistance and the exemption from charges for those
customers incapable of using the printed directory. The rate for chargeable Directory Assistance
calls will increase from $0.30 to $0.

STAFF ANALYSIS
Staff does not oppose Verizon s combination of Directory Assistance and Call Completion
services and believes the $0.95 charge in Washington is also appropriate for these optional
services in Idaho. Therefore, Staff recommends approval ofVerizon s Advice No. 03-07.
