ADVICE 03-06 TO PROVIDE CALL REFERRAL SERVICE OPTIONS TO REPLACE EXISTING INTERCEPT . SERVICE EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003 Verizon filed this Tariff Advice to introduce a new Call Referral Service that provides options for customers who have moved to a new location, disconnected service or requested a telephone number change. Calls to the intercepted telephone number are referred to an operator or a pre-recorded message that informs the caller of the status of that number (where facilities and numbers are available). This service will replace the existing On the Move intercept service that provides a maximum three months of referral and a custom-designed intercept message at rates comparable to the proposed plan, but with no one-time charges. On the Move will be grandfathered. Basic Call Referral provides a pre-recorded announcement stating that the called number has been disconnected or changed. This service will be offered free of charge for 30 days to Residence and Business customers. Extended Call Referral allows customers to extend the Basic Referral service for a minimum of 30 days beyond Basic Call Referral's 30-day limit up to a maximum of additional months. Customers will be billed $20.00 for one additional month (total of two months) and $10.00 for each additional month thereafter. Call Messenger/Split Call Referral- Call Messenger service will offer customers the option to design customized intercept messages. Split Call Referral will allow customers who have shared one number and have the need for the intercepted number to have multiple referrals. DECISION MEMORANDUM - 1 -JUNE 5, 2003 These services will be offered for a minimum of one month and a maximum of twelve months. These services will be provided to residential customers for a one-time charge of$25.00 and a monthly charge of$15., and to business customers for a one-time charge of$25.00 and a monthly charge of$25.00. Personalized recorded message services will not be provided to customers who have been disconnected for nonpayment. All applicable charges will be billed in advance as a one-time charge Verizon forecasts between 600 and 675 Extended Call Referrals will be purchased each year and less than 250 Split Referral and Call Messenger services will be purchased in year five. Verizon s proposed rates will recover its costs to provide this service. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval effective July 1 , 2003.
