RE: Intermountain Gas Company Sale of Property Notice
Dear Ms. Noriyuki:
As part of ongoing efforts to control costs and keep rates as low as possible for customers,
Intermountain Gas Company (“Intermountain” or “Company”) has decided its Meridian Customer
Service Center is no longer needed and will be listed for sale. Work from home measures that were
put in place during the COVID pandemic have proven to be popular with the Company’s agents,
increasing retention and broadening the hiring pool while continuing to provide the high level of
service expected from our customers. As a result, the Customer Service Center is no longer at full
capacity. The staff members currently working on site will be moved to space that has been
converted to offices at the Boise campus. Customers should see no impact to service as a result of
this staff relocation.
As Ordered in the Company’s previous general rate case INT-G-16-02, Order No. 33757, the
Company removed one-third of the net book value of the Customer Service Center building, land,
and depreciation expense from customer rates. The Company has discussed the proposed sale with
Idaho Public Utilities Commission Staff (“Staff”) and will work with Staff to ensure the eventual
sale is accounted for correctly in the Company’s books.
Although natural gas utilities are not required by Idaho Code 61-328 to obtain authorization for the
sale of utility property, the Company believes it is appropriate to provide this notice to the
