RE:VERIZON NORTHWEST, INC. TARIFF ADVICE 03-03 TO INTRODUCE
ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSFER MODE (ATM) CELL RELAY SERVICE
(CRS) EFFECTIVE MAY 6, 2003
Verizon Northwest, Inc. has filed this tariff advice to reflect the addition of
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Cell Relay Service (CRS) to the Advanced
Communications Networks section of its Intrastate Access Tariff. Verizon proposes that this
fast-packet cell-based technology can support user applications requiring high-bandwidth, high-
performance transport and switching where facilities permit. ATM CRS will be comprised of
User Network Interfaces (UNIs) for port only service or bundled port and access services and
Interim Inter-Switched Signaling Protocols (lISPs) for network-to-network connections. OC3c
and OC12c speeds will be available using either direct fiber or SONET facilities.
ATM CRS can be implemented in one-year, three-year or five-year terms using DS1
DS3, OC3c or OCl2c with or without SONET at various rates ranging from $532 to $21 160 per
month. Individual port connections are available in one, three or five year terms for up to
$11 247 per month. There will be no nonrecurring charges for installation, but there will be an
incremental charge for subsequent activity.
Because this is a large ticket item, Verizon proj ects only about five subscribers over the
next five years and estimates a net revenue gain of under $50 000 at year five.
