PROTECTOR TO ITS CUSTOM CHOICE FEATURES AND TO ADD
SIMPLE CHOICE ONE WITH VOICE MAIL SERVICE, EFFECTIVE
APRIL 28, 2003
CenturyTel ofldaho has filed this tariffto provide new services. Privacy Protector
intercepts calls that cannot be identified by Caller ill and routes them to an announcement that
states that the called number does not accept calls from telemarketers. Callers may then
complete their calls by pressing 1. This feature can be activated and deactivated by the
subscriber. CenturyTel proposes rates of $2.95 for residential customers and $3.95 for business
customers.
Additionally, the Company proposes to add five new features to its Simple Choice One
package and to offer a new Simple Choice One with Voice Mail. Subscribers to the Simple
Choice package would have the additional options of including Call Forward Busy/No Answer
Call Transfer, Call Waiting/Cancel Call Waiting, Message Waiting Indicator and Home Intercom
in their calling service. CenturyTel does not propose a rate increase for this modified Service.
Simple Choice One with Voice Mail would provide the same features as Simple Choice
One but would also offer Privacy Protector and Voice Mail where available. CenturyTel
proposes to offer this service to residential customers for $37.95 (which is $3.00 more than
Simple Choice One) and to business customers for $57.95 (which is $8.00 more than Simple
Choice One).

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
CenturyTel's proposed rates are more than adequate to cover the cost of providing
services. Because these products are optional and nonessential, Staff does not oppose the
requested rates. Staff recommends approval. Does the Commission agree?
