THE LOCAL CONNECTION TELEPHONE COMPANY
On June 7, 2002, The Local Connection Telephone Company filed an Application for
a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide basic local exchange service within
the service areas Qwest, Citizens Communications and Verizon. The Local Connection intends
to provide basic local exchange services that include 3-way calling, speed dialing and Caller ill.
The Company states that it is a reseller of basic local telephone service and has no plans to
provide facilities-based services. The Local Connection intends provide services in southwestern
Idaho, southern Idaho, eastern Idaho, and northeastern Idaho.
On June 18, 2002, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of
Modified Procedure, establishing a period for written comments. Written comments were filed
only by the Commission Staff. Staff reviewed the application and the information provided by
The Local Connection, including the illustrative tariffs for its proposed services. Staff
recommends the Commission approve the Application of The Local Connection Telephone
Company for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.

Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange telecommunication
services be approved?
