Intermountain Gas Company is requesting the Idaho Public Utilties Commission to
approve a new rate schedule which would require a hook-up fee for certain new
customer connections in the Ketchum and Sun Valley areas.
Today, the pipeline used to transport natural gas to these areas is operating at near
system capacity. This system is unique in that a vast majority of consumer demand is
located at the remote end of the pipeline. In order to continue to provide reliable
distribution service for additional customer growth in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area,
costly upgrades to this system must be made.
The proposed fee applies only to new customers located within Intermountain's
Ketchum/Sun Valley service territory, whose usage exceeds the average customer's
peak-day demand. This proposal wil impact only those new customers who are
creating the need for, and who directly benefit from, additional distribution system
investments. The defined impact area is north of Gimlet Road, excluding Gimlet
Subdivision. An impact area map has been filed with the Company's Application.
Intermountain's earnings wil not change as a result of the proposed new rate
schedule.
