RE:DIRECT COMMUNICATIONS ADVICE 03-01 TO PROVIDE
ENHANCED DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE FOR BOTH LOCAL AND
NATIONAL DIRECTORY SERVICES, EFFECTIVE MARCH 1, 2003
GVNW has filed this tariff advice on behalf of Direct Communications, proposing to
provide enhanced directory assistance that will provide directory services for local and interstate
numbers. Customers will dial 411 to access this service. Direct Communications proposes to
charge $.85 per call for both local and long distance assistance, a rate similarly charged by other
telephone providers. The current rate for local directory assistance is $.33 per call, which does
not cover the Company s costs. The Company has provided notice of the rate increase and
advanced services to its customers.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
This is the same rate the Commission approved for Rural Communications for the
enhanced directory assistance in September. Staff recommends approval. Does the Commission
agree?
