Subj ect: Natural Gas rates
With natural gas prices at 30 month lows, why wouldn
Intermountain Gas reduce rates accordingly? Their
request for a 4% reduction after their huge increase
last year does not make sense. If the price of gas is
lower now than two years ago; it would seem
eliminating last years increase would be a good
starting point at figuring a reduction.
Sincerely,
Jeff Schultz

I see in the news, today that Intermtn Gas Co has asked the PUC to approve a -3.68% rate reduction for
consumers. How generous!! I'm almost overcome with nausea. Starting in 2004 when natural gas prices on the
futures mkt were running 11-13.$/billion and then running up to $18./billion (continous contract) , the gas co.
raised prices 10% and 27% with some justification. Currently, NG prices are hovering -$6.00/billion-less than half
the price before the up move started. It would seem apropriate for the PUC to consult a reliable commodities
broker to confirm the above. It would seem that increasing prices roughly 40% and then giving back less than 4%
is one hell of a way to do business. Who or what are you people regulating? Where s the Vaseline?!

Dear PUC
Here is a copy of a letter that I sent to the Idaho Statesman editorial page. I think that Intermountain Gas
Company should be forced to lower rates. Natural gas prices are down and the 4% proposed decrease is an
insult to the people of Idaho. Please force them to pass on the savings to Idaho consumers.
Unnatural Gas Prices
On 9/21 , the Statesman reported that Intermountain Gas Company was lobbying for a whopping 4%
decrease in rates this year. Last year, natural gas prices soared above $15 per MMBtu and our good
friends at the gas company raised rates by 27%. Today, natural gas prices are plummeting to 2 year
lows at less than $5 per MMBtu and we are potentially offered a 4% decrease. Hopefully, State
Regulators will stand up for the consumers and force a significant decrease in rates.
Thanks
