Complaint description: I just received notice that Intermountain Gas Co is requesting
38 rate hike. Please do not grant this request. They are basing the request on abnormally
high gas prices from last year. Gas prices normally vary over fairly wide ranges every
year and undoubtedly will drop in the near future. This increase which is not justified
would be a real hardship to many people especially the elderly.
I am 69 years old and retired , li ving on a fixed income. I can t afford to pay a verylarge increase in utili ty payments. It is bad enough that the sales tax has increased 20 this year.
While I recognize that businesses must make a profit , a regulated monoply is guaranteed
profi t and they do not compete in the marketplace. Their profi t margins should be low
since they have no risk.
Please protect this ci tizens of Idaho and do not grant this request.
