RECEIVED WF!"' j -_ ZO03 t'1~ ~ \ 4 Pt13: i!;i ';" 2UULIC UTllYflES COMMISSION Idaho Public Utilities Commission 472 W Washington 8t Boise, ID 83702 Attn: Commissioners I am wri~ing to let you know I am greatly concerned about Intermountain Gas Company s request for a 38% hike in rates and I am asking you to please not grant their request. This will have too great an impact on the customers, many of whom are on fixed incomes, others who have lost their jobs through layoffs and downsizing. In the article which appeared in the Post Register dated May 6, 2003 , Intermountain Gas claimed the increase would cover increased costs but not increase their earnings. Do they really expect the public to believe this, especially since prices were lower this winter versus the prior year? Again, please do not impose another hardship on the people of Idaho who are Intermountain Gas customers especially in light of the present perilous state of the economy. you, Jean JewellFrom:Sent:To:Subject:Ed HowellTuesday, May 20 , 2003 10:49 AMJean Jewell; Ed Howell; Gene Fadness; Tonya ClarkComment acknowledgementWWW Form Submission:Tuesday, May 20 , 20039:48:48 AMCase: INT-G-03-Name: Gilbert DayleyS t r e e t Add res s: 2 6 4 N. 4 0 0 0 E .Ci ty: RigbyState: IdahoZIP: 83442HomeTelephone: 208-745-6059E-Mail:Company: Intermountain Gasmailinglist _yes _no: yesCommentdescription: Please , Just Say NO!an economic downturn , or should we dare incomes and many of the working age peopleWe cannot afford any increse in utili ties.We as a nation and as a state are experiencingsay depression. Why can t stockholders absorb a portion of this cost , whyconsumers all the time? Is the rate you are paying for this region comparable to the restof the country?Once before there was some talk about buying in blocks when the price was low. Has thatbeen in practice?Comment: I am a 76 year old widow. Fi ve years ago when my husband died , wesettled into a home I could maintain financially. In that time , utilitiestaxes, and costs of living generally have doubled or tripled in many cases.income has increased less than one hundred dollars. Unfortunately I have gas heat and water heater and will feel the increase even more. There is nothing I can do about that. Having the utili tie rates changing so frequently adds to the difficul ty in being able to plan a budget. I do hope the Commission will give strong consisderation to the impact on the consumers who are out of work or living on fixed incomes. thought I waspropertyMy retirement Sincerely, S.
