I am wri~ing to let you know I am greatly concerned about Intermountain Gas Company s request for
a 38% hike in rates and I am asking you to please not grant their request. This will have too great an
impact on the customers, many of whom are on fixed incomes, others who have lost their jobs through
layoffs and downsizing.
In the article which appeared in the Post Register dated May 6, 2003 , Intermountain Gas claimed the
increase would cover increased costs but not increase their earnings. Do they really expect the public to
believe this, especially since prices were lower this winter versus the prior year?
Again, please do not impose another hardship on the people of Idaho who are Intermountain Gas
customers especially in light of the present perilous state of the economy.

Unfortunately I have gas heat and water heater and will feel the increase even more. There
is nothing I can do about that. Having the utili tie rates changing so frequently adds to
the difficul ty in being able to plan a budget.
I do hope the Commission will give strong consisderation to the impact on the consumers
who are out of work or living on fixed incomes.
