RE:RURAL TELEPHONE COMPANY TARIFF ADVICE 02-04 TO REVISE
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE SERVICES AND RATES, EFFECTIVE
OCTOBER 31,2002
GVNW filed the above-referenced tariff advice on behalf of Rural Telephone Company
to offer enhanced directory assistance for local and national directory services to its customers.
The Company proposes to set the rate for this expanded service to $.85 per call, a rate
comparable to that charged by other providers. Rural currently offers only local directory
assistance for $.33 per call. Additionally, the Company proposes to eliminate the current
business practice of providing non-listed numbers at no charge during normal business hours.
The Company estimates earnings for this enhanced service will be approximately $100
per year.
Rural plans to notify its customers in the October 1 bill and will send the Commission a
copy of its notice.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends Commission approval of all of this Advice, effective October 31
