I have lived in the NW my enre life where Hydroelectric Power has been prevalent and shared widely, as the Grid is spread through NW States. I’ve atended 5 different colleges. At the Univ. of Washington, in 1975, we proved the ‘hole’ in the ozone layer of the atmosphere, allowing more harmful UV radiaon to Earth, and confirmed by renown sciensts around the world. Today, you don’t hear any news about this condion because the Earth has repaired itself. I hear “… the fragile Earth….” It is not that fragile! I don’t believe in climate concerns like CO2 emissions (which every green tree needs so they can exhale O2 which we need). • Problem: I DO believe that fossil fuels are necessary for the ‘life’ of the U.S. I don’t believe it possible to transfer all the power of fossil fuels to the electric Grid even with other renewable energy sources. Consider, especially, charging the EV’s. The increased load on the Grid requires Ulies to increase producon requiring increased revenue. Don’t pass that down to the ‘small’ people; the residenal customers. THE RESIDENTIAL, ELECTRIC AND GAS “BASIC CHARGE” RATE, SHOULD NOT BE RAISED FROM $7 TO $20. For Gas and Electric, your proposal is asking residents to pay $40 per month instead of $14 per month; or a raise of 286% over 2 years. In the rural areas where we live, most are on a fixed income and many use wood to avoid the high cost of electricity. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submited via PUCWeb: Name: ross gibson Submission Time: Jul 11 2023 4:25PM Email: ross_gibson@hotmail.com Telephone: 208-877-1428 Address: 1039 Helmer lane Deary, ID 83823 2 Name of Ulity Company: Resident Case ID: AVU-E-23-01 Comment: "Public Ulies Commission SUBJECT: “Basic Charge” rate increase for AVU-E-23-01 and AVU-G-23-01 Ladies and Gentlemen: • Introducon: I am 69.
