If Avista needs this large a rate increase -at best it should be spread over many years. As a rate payer, I have no recourse other than relying on the PUC to vet this request with the utmost scrutiny and assess their "need" outside of their shareholders expectations. I also read that "other States" rates were being considered for evidence. I believe only Idaho utilities should be considered. Especailly Co-ops (Kootenai and Fall River are two I am familiar with.) This is a net increase in energy cost for our home of 19%, FAR exceeding inflationary pressures. Not to mention they have NO competition and are a monopoly for energy in our area. How are they allowed to raise cost this much over such a small period of time? This will necessarily put pressure on homeowners to reduce spending in other areas and have a net negative effect on our economy. " ------
