SUBJECT:JOINT APPLICATION OF HYDRO ONE LIMITED AND AVISTA
CORPORATION FOR APPROVAL OF MERGER AGREEMENT
CASE NOS. AVU-8.17.09 AND AVU-G.17-05
On.Iuly 19,2017, Avista announced that it had entered into a mergff agreement with
Hydro One ("Applicants"). On September l4,2017,the Applicants filed the above captioned
joint application fbr approval of the merger. Approval of the Application would result in Avista
becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of a Hydro One holding company. The Applicants have
requested approval by August 14, 2018, and have made the same request in other state
jurisdictions.
On October 5,2077, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of
Intervention Deadline. Order No. 33903. Idaho Forest Group, Clearwater Paper, Idaho
Conservation League (ICL), the Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho (CAPAI),
and the Washington and Northern Idaho District Council of Laborers (WNIDCL) intervened as
parties. After conferring, the parties now propose the fbllowing schedule:
Settlement Conference
Staff/Intervenor Prefi le Testimony
Second Settlement Conference
Applicants Prefi le Rebuttal Testimony
Technical Evidentiary Hearing

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Commission issue an Order that adopts the above schedule
and sets a technical hearing for June 27, 2018. At this time, Staff makes no recommend
regarding public informational workshops, or a public hearing for customers. Staff believes the
Commission should schedule workshops, and a customer hearing through a separate order at a
later date.

sets a technical hearing as described above?
