Comment:PUC Commissioners,
In addition to statements provided during the public hearing in Sandpoint,ID on June 13,2018 primarily focused on
Hydro One'sfinancial stability based on its 4Q2017 public financial reporting.I'd like to add how the leadership
instabilityat Hydro One further undermines its proposed acquisition of Avista Corp.
Given that the Hydro One CEO was forced to resign by Canadian parliamentary pressures and the entire Board of
Directors stepped down,it is not in the interest of Avista rate payers to be subjected to such instabilities. The political
climate in Canada between the ruling party and Hydro One,would subject Avista,if acquired,to undue risk.
Now that precedent has been set for the ruling party to heavily influence the leadership team of Hydro One,there are
no reasons to suggest that Hydro One and subsequently Avista, will be under constant political influences.Rate payers
need and deserve stability in their utility companies, without influence from politics and other, outside interests.Given
how political the generation of energy is,the belief systems of the ruling party will affect the Avista rate payers in
unpredictable ways.
I implore you to deny the proposed merger for these reasons.
Sincerely,
Brandon Cramer
