SUBJECT: THE APPLICATION OF AVISTA UTILITIES FOR AN ORDER
APPROVING A CHANGE IN NATURAL GAS RATES AND CHARGES,
CASE NO. AVU-G.17.04
On August 31, 2017, Avista Corporation dba Avista Utilities filed its annual
Purchased Gas Cost Adjustment (PGA) Application asking to decrease its annualized revenues
by about Sl.7 million. Application at l. The Company says its proposal will not affect its
earnings and will decrease rates for an average residential or small commercial customer by
$1.23 per month (2.4%). The Company states that it will issue notice of this change via a bill
insert in the September to October timeframe. The Company asks that its Application be
processed by Modified Procedure, and that the new rates take effect November 1 ,2017 .
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Comrnission issue a Notice of Application and Notice of
Modified Procedure, with comments due October 20, 2017, and reply comments, if any, due
October 25,2017.
