I am hereby recommending denial of Avista i s latest rate increase requests. I think the
timing of this request could not be worse. When most people of moderate income , and our
senior citizens are struggling to pay the bills, an increase of 14% for electriciy and 3.6 %
for natural gas seems ludricous. All expenses have risen dramatically for heal thcare as well
as normal household expenses for most people I definitely agree with the editor of the
CdAlene Press that much of your goodwill you have tried to build, will be jeopardized by
seeking these increases. In the real world, older people will turn down their heat and live
in the cold, as well as the extreme heat during the hot summer days. Shame on you, Avista!

I am retired and living on a fixed income and have not seen a cost of living raise for two
years. I can i t afford to pay more for utili ties.

I strongly urge IPUC to deny the rate increase of 14% for electric and 3.6% for natural gas.
I just took a 6% pay cut and reduction in medical care benefits and cannot afford to pay morefor utilities.
