We think it would be a HUGE injustice to allow Avista to do the requested rate hike! We live
in a 1,100 square foot mobile home and we pay an insane amount already for our utilities!
For example, last month, we did not have our furnace on at all, and our bill was $168.00! We
upgraded our appliances to the energy efficient ones and it is still hi! We have done all of
the necessary things to keep it low, ie we put new siding on with an insane amount of
insulation, we unplug things during the day, etc. And the sad part? Due to the economy,
neither of us are making enough money to stay afloat and Avista wants more? We think it is
very, very unfair.!

IDAHO RATE HIKE (ELECTRIC/N.GAS) Do they know that senior's are on a fix income.. the federal
had say their will be no incease in our SS Checks for the next few years.. we are in a
recession, jobs losts, wages cut, folks losing their homes, state of idaho is cutting back in
all departments and medial cost sky rocketing out site... .yes people are losing their homes.
we can not afford any more increases, prices allover have sky rocketed.. i understand AVISTA
costs have increase also... THEY NEED TO FIND WAYS TO CUT COST INSIDE AVISTA COMPANY,
wages/bonus cut at the top level. It seems AVISTA will have to tighten their belt also.. (make
no or very small profit and very little money for the stock holder) AGAIN 12.8 AND 3 PERCENT
is NOT GOOD RIGHT NOW... THANK YOU...

I read the headlines to the Northwest section of the Lewiston Tribune about few people
turning out for the AVISTA . workshop' that was held yesterday. The reason I do not attend
these meetings is because you just hear why your going to increase our rates. In the last
year and with this years increases AVISTA will have increased my utility bill by about 25% My
income has increased by 1%. There are a lot of people out there who did not even see a 1%
increase in their income and there are a lot of people who have seen cuts in their income or
have lost their jobs.

Avista is not Cost co , Starbucks or any similar public company. They're a utility-essentially
making money off of what is a commodity owned by the public. They don't have competitors.
Their product is supplied by nature and is essential to the survival of their customers.
I' ve always been disturbed by the fact that utili ties, food processors and other suppliers of
our basic necessities are allowed to profit from something we require to survive.
In these tough economical times with record unemployment rates and Washington & Idaho' s
educators being laid off, the mining and logging, and contruction companies have not worked
or have barely worked for 6 months , it is appalling that Avista is reporting record profits.
Scott Morris, Avista Corp.'s chairman, president and chief executive officer, earned $2.2
million in total compensation last year while many people sat in cold houses because they
couldn' t afford the gas/ electricity to keep them warm. Stop the greed.
