I wish to express my oposition to the proposed 12.8% electric rate increase that Avista is
asking for. This, on top of the other increases they have received recently, have resulted
in the electric bill for my small business nearly doubling in the past couple of years. I
have seen similar increases, though not quite as dramatic, in my home electric bill. With
the recent profits reported, and the huge salaries that upper management has received, it is
time for us ratepayers to be given a little breathing room. If the rate increase is granted,
it will add to the burden we are currently facing in this declining economy, and push me one
step closer to closing the doors on my business that currently employs 13 people in a county
with 16.5% (and rising) unemployment. Thank you for your consideration.
