Re: proposed Avista rate hike of 12.8% electric Our utility bills are already up this year,
compared with the last two years. Costs for most basic goods and services in other sectors
are even or down this year because of the recession. I fail to see why Avista needs more
money, particularly over 12%. Also, I understand that hydropower represents a primary source
of power production for Avista. This cost should not have increased since this is a good
water year. I am very much against granting this increase , specifically at this time of
economic stress. However , if in the future, we are switching to green power, i would be
willing to support a 5% increase at that time.
