(Commissioner Smith was out of the office.) Commissioner Hansen called the organizational meeting to order. He stated that according to Idaho Code, on the first Monday of April beginning in 1981 and every two years thereafter, the Commissioners shall elect one of their members to be president. He said that before opening the nominations for president, he wanted to thank the staff for their support for the last two plus years. He said he also wanted to thank the Commissioners who have worked with and supported him as president: Commissioner Ralph Nelson, Commissioner Paul Kjellander and Commissioner Marsha Smith. He said without their support and help it would have been extremely difficult to carry on the position of president, and he didn't think a person could ask for any more support and help than he received from his fellow commissioners. Commissioner Hansen then opened the nominations for president by nominating Paul Kjellander for president for the term ending April 2003. Commissioner Hansen pledged his support for Commissioner Kjellander and said he will do all he can to support him as president, just as he has done for him. He stated he is looking forward to serving under Commissioner Kjellander's direction and leadership. He said it is exciting when someone new takes over because they have new ideas and new ways of doing things that energizes us all. Commissioner Kjellander thanked Commissioner Hansen for the work he has done as president. Commissioner Kjellander said when he came on board at the Commission, Commissioner Hansen did a lot to help him feel comfortable in the position as did Commissioner Smith. He said if he can do half the job Commissioner Hansen has done as president then at least the place won't fall apart. Commissioner Kjellander said he looked forward to the task. He then adjourned the meeting. Dated this ____ day of May, 2001. ____________________________ COMMISSION SECRETARY
