NO WAY!!!!! you must NOT approve this. Yesterday the associated press released a press release from the U.S. government, here is a piece of that article: WASHINGTON - Natural gas futures plunged 10 percent to a two-year low on Thursday after S. government data showed record supplies. Industry officials said homeowners that depend on natural gas for heat should see lower bills this winter assuming normal temperatures. Last year my energy rate went from $107/month (for each month) to currently $137/month. I pay the same on a monthly plan. This was increased, they reasoned, because of the hurricane which had absolutely nothing to do with our gas source in Canada but went up anyway. The fuel rates have gone down considerable recently. Why, under any logic whatsoever, could our gas rates increase? I would say we should roll back the rates the 8% increase they went up (for me May) during Katrina Hurricane spoof. The following is a recap of the natural gas prices for the past period: Na tural Gas (NYM) ($US per mmbtu. 09/02/05 12/13/05 12/28/05 01/04/06 01/27/06 02/28/06 03/30/06 04/27/06 05/30/06 06/30/06 07/28/06 09/14/06 13. 15. 11. 10. The price of natural gas is coming down. For the life of me I can't see why Avistais asking for an increase. At the last report the natural gas supply had increased about 108 mmbtu (reported by MSNBC). With supply up and prices already high , I certainly hope you will not give Avista a "pass " on this request. Gas Rate Increase -----Original Message----- From: Gary Conway (mailto:silverlakepub(Qjadelphia.net) Sent: Friday, September 15, 2006 10:41 AM To: Tonya Clark Subject: Avista N. Gas Rate Increase The Idaho PUC I heard on the news last night that Avista is going to ask the pue for another rate increase for natural gas. As current prices are down and there is a reported surplus of the product, I see no justification for granting a rate increase at this time. With present prices below $5., it would be more sensible for Avista to reduce prices and give the consumer a break. When you last granted them a rate increase, market prices were over $10. with consensus that they were headed higher. That never occurred , but rates were never lowered to compensate the consumer. There is, absolutely, no reason for granting them a rate increase just to aid their bottom line. Sincerely, Gary Conway 6575 N. 16th Street Dalton Gardens, ID 83815 9/18/2006
