Creating an RSS Feed while using the Opera browser requires the use of a browser extension to
use. In this guide we will go over how to acquire an RSS extension and subscribe to an RSS Feed.
Step 1: Go to the Opera Add-On and find RSS Extension
Go to the Opera Add-Ons webpage. Click on the hyperlink in the previous sentence to go
there, or find it by searching it in Google or any other search engine. Search for the add-on
“Smart RSS”. There are multiple RSS Extensions in the Opera Add-Ons page that will work, but
we recommend this one. Click the button highlighted in red called “Add to Opera” to install.
Step 2: Pin “Smart RSS” for convenience
This step is optional, but useful if you wish to stay up-to-date with all Public Utilities
Commission updates. To pin an extension so that it’s easier to see, click the box icon on the top-
right hand corner of the screen by the search bar, currently highlighted in red. A list of
Extensions should now appear. Click on the pushpin icon next to the “Smart RSS” so that it
turns solid blue and not a grey outline, as highlighted in red below. This will make the “Smart
RSS” icon show up next to the box icon for greater convenience.
Step 3: Open Smart RSS Extension
Once the Add-On is installed, go back to the PUC RSS Page. Do not click the link, as
Opera will not understand what to do with the RSS Feed as shown in this image.
Instead, copy the link of the RSS Feed you are interested in. You can do this by either
highlighting the line and pressing the “Ctrl” + “c” keys on your keyboard, or right-clicking the
mouse button and selecting “Copy” or “Copy link address” from the menu. Your computer will
now save this link.
Step 4: Open Smart RSS Extension
Once the Add-On is installed, a pin should appear on the top-right of the screen as is
highlighted in the image. Click on that, and you should be brought to this “Smart RSS” screen.
To add a new RSS Feed for the “Smart RSS” extension, click on the “Add RSS Source” button
highlighted in red at the top-left hand side of the screen.
Step 5: Add RSS Feed
A pop-up will appear, asking for information about the new RSS Feed to be added. Paste
the link on your computer saved in the “RSS Feed URL” text input. Next, click the “OK” button
below.
Step 6: Confirm that you are following RSS Feed
Congratulations! You are now subscribed to the RSS Feed. At any time you can view all
RSS Feed updates from the Public Utilities Commission by clicking on the “Smart RSS” extension
as shown below. Click the pinned extension, highlighted in red on top-right hand of the screen,
to go to the “Smart RSS” webpage. The list will show you all recent RSS Feed updates. Clicking
on any individual item in the list will bring you to the Public Utilities Commission webpage with
more information related to that item.
