NEWS RELEASE: Written comments are being accepted on utility’s application to create rate
schedule for electric vehicle charging stations.

BOISE (Jan. 10, 2024) – The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is accepting written comments
until late February on an application from Avista Utilities to create an electric tariff Schedule 23,
also known as a “direct current fast charging rate option.”

This option is designed to give commercial electric-vehicle charging station owners a way to
reduce market barriers associated with existing rate options. Charging station owners in Idaho
using direct current fast charging would pay a certain rate for the service if Avista’s application
is approved by the commission. This rate would include a monthly fixed demand charge as well
as a rate of $0.085 for the first 250,000 kilowatt hours per month and a reduced rate of $0.073
after using more than 250,000 kilowatt hours per month.

The commission is accepting written comments on the utility’s application until Feb. 21, 2024.
Comments are required to be filed through the commission’s homepage or by e-mail unless
computer access is not available. To comment through the commission’s homepage, please visit
puc.idaho.gov and click on the “Case Comment Form” link on the upper left side of the page.
