HomeMy WebLinkAbout160519_IPCmeterpedestals.pdf Idaho Power seeks to transfer meter pedestals to mobile home park owner Case No. IPC-E-16-07, Order Nos. 33522, 33523 Contact: Gene Fadness (208) 334-0339, 890-2712 BOISE (May 19, 2016) – The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is taking comment on an Idaho Power Company request to transfer title of 18 electric meter pedestals to the owner of a Chubbuck mobile home park. Before March 1981, Idaho Power installed, owned and maintained mobile home pedestals. Since that time, newer mobile homes have been served by pedestals owned and maintained by the customers. Any pedestals still owned by Idaho Power predate 1981 and their replacement parts are no longer manufactured and must be built by Idaho Power. Under the proposed agreement between Idaho Power and Kathleen Parrish of Mobile Manor mobile home park, Idaho Power would update the meters and then transfer them to Mobile Manor as is. No money will be exchanged. Idaho Power claims that the up-front cost of updating the pedestals will be more than offset by the elimination of long-term maintenance and repair cost incurred by the utility were it to retain ownership. The commission is taking comment on the proposal through June 6 and will conduct a technical hearing immediately following the commission’s Decision Meeting on Monday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. in the commission hearing room at 472 W. Washington St. in Boise. Comments are accepted by accessing the commission’s Website at www.puc.idaho.gov and clicking on "Case Comment Form,” under the “Consumers” heading.
