Rocky Mountain Power requests update to
power costs
On September I, 2016, Rocky Mountain Power asked
the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to reduce the
amount of power costs in rates by $1.1 million, or 0.4
percent. The application proposed two options; either
pass this reduction back to customers as a small rate
reduction, or keep rates where they are and use the
$1.1 million to pay down a deferred amount owed to
the company. Intervening parties met on October 19,
2016, and expressed their desire for a rate decrease.
The company proposed to allocate the 0.4 percent
decrease across all customer classes equally. If
approved, this would be a decrease of approximately 27
cents per month for the average residential customer
using 800 kilowatt-hours of electricity.
The commission must approve the proposed changes
before they can take effect. A copy of the application
is available for public review at the commission offices
in Boise or on the commission's homepage at www.
puc.idaho.gov. Custome rs may file written comments
regarding the application with the commission or

periodic updates via email about the case. Copies of
the proposal also are available for review at Rocky
Mountain Power's offices in Rexburg, Preston, Shelley
and Montpelier.
