Comment:We are very concerned that our local power company,Idaho Power,provide this part
of our state with reliable,affordable power well into the future,i.e.,not for the next 10
or 20 years,but for the next 50 or 100.With the increasing worldwide recognition of the
urgent need to reduce carbon emissions,the path ahead for any forward-thinking utility
company can only mean investments in renewable energy.Please do not allow Idaho Power to
drag its feet or to obstruct progress towards a sustainable future for Idaho households for
selfish economic or blinkered political reasons.Each regional areas actions will contribute
to the further pollution of our state,country and planet or to their gradual rehabilitation
and the possibility for life on Earth to continue.This may sound overly dramatic,but the
decision before the PUC regarding Idaho Powers request for mere 2-year contracts for solar
developers amounts to ignoring the potential of solar energy and condemning Idahos residents
to an uncertain future.
