To Idaho Public Commissioners:
The Scoular Company is a grain/commodity company in Jerome that has electricity as significant
percentage of our overhead.Continued low electrical rates are integral to our long term success.
Idaho Power locking into long term rates with a renewable energy source that is interruptible and
unreliable,will drive up costs that are passed on to our company.It may have a significant impact on
our long term expansion plans.It will also have an impact on any business considering Southern Idaho
as a place to relocate or establish a new business.
Tying Idaho Power into 20 year contracts is contrary to free market principles and is forcing rate payers
to subsidize an inefficient source that cannot self-justify its own economics.
The Scoular Company strongly supports Idaho Powers petition to keep renewable energy/solar
contracts to a period of two years.
