The energy cost adjustment mechanism is designed to track the difference between the company's actual costs to provide electricity to customers and the amount collected from customers through current prices. If the commission approves, the adjustment would take effect April 1, 2013. Under Rocky Mountain Power's proposal, most customers will see no change in this adjustment, as was the case last year. The increase for industrial customers is related to a settlement in the previous price increase request in 2011. The proposed adjustment will allow Rocky Mountain Power to continue to provide safe, reliable electric service to its customers The company's proposal requests that the Idaho Public Utilities Commission approve deferral of the 2012 energy related costs of $15.9 million and adjust the energy cost adjustment rider, Schedule 94, by $2.2 million. Those costs will be collected from two large industrial customers on Schedules 400 and 401. The company is proposing no change to base prices customers pay. The proposed increase would have the following impacts: • Residential, commercial and most industrial customers - no change to current rates • Industrial customer served on tariff Schedule 400 - $2.1 million increase or 2.6 percent • Industrial customer served on tariff Schedule 401 - $0.1 million increase or 2.4 percent The public will have an opportunity to comment on the proposal during the coming months as the commission studies the company's request The commission must approve the proposed changes before they can take effect.
