These costs are primarly the fuel Rocky Mounta Power uses to generate electrcity and the electrcity the company purchases from other providers to serve customers. Energy costs ar routiely adjused by Idaho electrc utlities to reflect the actu costs to serve customers. Rocky Mounta Power ha requested tht the Idao Public Utilties Commssion review an energy cost tre-up for Dec. 1,2009 though Nov. 30,2010. Rocky Mountain Power keeps energy costs as low as possible by analyzig the best mix of choices for producing safe, reliable electrcity. The energy cost tre-up ensures tht customer pay only the actu cost for the energy used to serve their homes and businesses. The utilty's request, if approved by the commssion, would increase residential electrc bils 6.1 percent, or approximately $5 per month for a tyical residential home using 839 kilowatt-hour per month. The total amount of the company's request is $12.8 milion. Rocky Mountan Power has requested the tre-up tae effect on April 1, 2011. "Energy costs ar. a large portion of the cost of providing electrc service to cusomers and tend to var more rapidly th other costs of servng customers," said Karen Gilmore, vice president of Rocky Mounta Power. "These routie tr-ups allow the company to either collect rising costs or cret declinng costs back to customers in a timely maner after review and approval by reguators. As always, we encourage customers to take advantage of energy savings programs and tips as well as programs to even out fluctutions in monthy bils." The Idao Public Utilties Commssion will study the company's request and must approve the proposed chages before they ca tae effect.
