The CEO of the company states, , One of the reasons we selected Pocatello and the state of Idaho is access to reasonably priced, stable power. So the upcoming connection of that power to our property is a meaningful milestone.' It is sad that the southern-most part of Idaho, the part forced to use Rocky Mountain Power, isn't seeing any new construction. I'm sure the added hundreds of thousands of dollars per month for the honor of buying RMP electricity affected Hoku' s decision to build in Idaho Power's area. I am really NOT looking for these. In the article 'Harnessing the Wind,' John Bulger tells about a man who recently installed two wind generators. 'And if the windmills generate more electricity than Esplin consumes? Idaho Power will buy the power back from him, dollar for dollar. (note: this is called net-metering MM) Rocky Mountain Power is currently paying 75 cents on the dollar, he said' Now, I ask you, why is there such a discrepancy between the two power companies on so many issues? RMP doesn't want customers who might net meter to connect to the grid and that's what this remote facilities fee is partially about. The way things usually go, I'm sure Idaho Power will reduce their payback amount and institute a remote facilities fee, but I still believe these issues need to be brought to the Commission's attention as long as we are not given a choice as to what power company to hire.
