Arimo Rd. City: Arimo State: Idaho Zip: 83214 Daytime Telephone: 208 234 6663 Contact E-Mail: mor an ercanbrac amis. com Name of Utility Company: Rocky Mountain Power Add to Mailing List:., es- Please describe your comment briefly: Rocky Mountain Power is requesting a 4.73 percent increase to residential power users. Rocky Mountain Power just barely increased its rates roughly a year ago. They say that increases in demand necessitate a rate increase. They fail to mention that increases in demand translation to increases in their revenue. Investments Rocky Mountain Power makes to increase the infrastructure so they can provide more power to more customers should be amortized over a long period of time. When residential growth subsides in Idaho ( as it is,currently doing) and the infrastructure is in place~ and no new substations etc. have to be built~ Rocky Mountain Power will have a larger revenue stream to pay for the infrastructure. Hence a rate increase isn't justified. If they get a rate increase now~ based on past growth~ when growth subsides will they cut their rates? I think not. Gi ven the current state of the economy and with ordinary citizens struggling just to pay their heating bills. It is out of the question that Rocky Mountain Power should get a rate increase! Rocky Mountain Power may have to tighten their belts like everyone else and every other industry. If Rocky Mountain Power wants to increase rates~ let the public examine the pay of their executives and their bonuses ~ perks ~ and see if an adj ustment there would help them contain costs . Utilities shouldn't be exempt from the belt tightening and fiscal frugality that every other company and individual has to undergo. These are very tough times! NO INCREASE to Rocky Mountain Power!
