After the Commission's review and ruing, the new rates would likely tae effect in spring 2009. The proposed rate increase is designed to cover the dramatically increasing cost of serving residential, commercial and irrgation customers. "The proposed increase is needed as the result of the company's need to meet the increasing cost for electrcity," said Richard Walje, president, Rocky Mountan Power. "As the need for electrcity has grown, the company has made large investments in new infastrctue and facilties. In addition, costs have increased for fuel and purchased power to serve customers." For the average residential home using 850 kilowatt hours per month, tht equates to an increase of approximately $3.55 per month. The Commission will study the company's proposal durng the coming months and must approve the proposed changes before they can tae effect.
