Rocky Mountain Power files for rate increase.
On September 19, 2008, Rocky Mountain Power
filed for a rate increase of $5.9 million, or 4.0
percent overall with the Idaho Public Utilties
Commission. After the Commission's review and
ruling, the new rates would likely take effect in
the spring of 2009.
With increases in both electrical demand in
Idaho and costs to produce and deliver
electricity to meet that demand, the proposed
rate increase wil allow Rocky Mountain Power
to continue to be a provide safe, reliable and
adequate electric service to its customers.
The proposed increase would have the
following impacts:
· residential customers - an increase of 4.73
percent; that would be approximately $3.55 per
month for the average residential home using
850 kwh per month;
· irgation customers - (Scedule 10) 2.31 percent
· general service
Schedule 23/23A - 0 percent
Schedule 6/6A/8/35 -7.96 percent
Schedule 9 - 7.96 percent
Schedule 19 - 2.31 percent
· public street lighting
(Schedules 7/7A, 11, 12) - 0 percent

The Commission wil study the company's
proposal during the coming months and must
approve the proposed changes before they can
take effect.
The public wil have opportunity to comment
on the proposal during the rate-making process.
A copy of the company's application is available
for public review at the commssion offices in
Boise and at the company's offices in Rexburg,
Preston, Shelley and Montpelier.
