Dear Commissioners: The University of Idaho Extension Service in Madison and Fremont Counties approve the planned acquisition of Pacific Corp. by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company. This planned purchase will be good for, not only pumpers and irrigators in these two southeastern Idaho counties, but will greatly be beneficial for Utah also. From my research I have studied MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company and it seems they have similar priorities. MidAmerican knows the energy business and its electric utility has earned numerous customer satisfaction awards. This transaction provides Pacific Corp. with long-term stability and access to the capital resources necessary to fund sustained investment in the electric system. Agriculture is a vital part of our economic well being. Dependable efficient and a company owned by someone in the United States will stabilize this needed resource for agriculture. MidAmerican has stated that they are committed in maintaining sufficient operations and front-line staffing in providing adequate and reliable service in light of load and customer growth. Thank you for letting me give some insight into this transaction. Gale W. Harding Madison/Fremont University of Idaho Extension Services Extension Educator P. O. Box 83720 Boise, ID 83720-0074 Re: Case No. PAC-05-, Purchase of PacifiCorp Dear Commissioners; The Development Company has approved a position supporting the planned purchase of PacifiCorp by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company. We believe this purchase will be good for PacifiCorp s Idaho customers and for our organization. Among the benefits of this purchase, several stand out: 1. PacifiCorp and MEHC have similar priorities-customer service, operational reliability, safety, community involvement, environmental stewardship and renewable energy development. 2. PacifiCorp will continue existing economic development practices as well as use MEHC's experience to maximize the effectiveness of those efforts. 3. Continuation of PacifiCorp s economic development efforts- which will be augmented with insights from MEHC' economic development team 4. This transaction provides PacifiCorp with long-term stability and access to the capital resources necessary to fund sustained investment in the electric system. Thank you for considering our input regarding this important issue. 6:t ik Ted Hendricks Chairman , Executive Committee The Development Company Member Counties: Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton Equal Opportunity Programs/Employer
